Our People
This irreplaceable experience of working in-house as a patent attorney for a business, and in private practice representing many different clients, has allowed me to develop a strong commercial understanding of the importance of intellectual property rights and the most effective way to use those rights to help grow and support a business.
Prior to entering the patent profession I served an electrical apprenticeship in the nuclear industry before going on to study electrical engineering at university. I then obtained a PhD on a project partially funded by a major US company to test the switching limits of magnetic recording media. Having had a somewhat unconventional early career path has me to become an excellent communicator and leader who can relate to, and work well with, people at all levels.
My main areas of experience include electronics, electrical, computer hardware and software, telecommunications, circuit protection devices and mechanical inventions. My clients include start-ups, SMEs and international companies.
I have worked both as an in-house lawyer in London as well as in private practice for two of the region’s largest law firms prior to establishing my own practice which has been providing legal services to businesses nationally for over 10 years.
My clients range from start-ups to internationally recognised brands. My client base includes accountants, solicitors, software and app developers, the medical and research professions, web developers, marketing agencies, theatres, writers, artists, music and film industries, restaurants, tourist venues, charities and sports professionals. I am approachable, professional and clear. I passionately protect my clients and their IP assets.
I am a visiting lecturer at the world famous LIPA as well as the University of Liverpool and LJMU. I have published the guide ‘How to Start your Own Record Label’.
